Most googled health questions!

So I was interested in what are the most asked health question in the world ….  and according to CNN and Google, based on data collected between January and mid-December of 2018 here are the top 6 health questions people are asking.

What is the keto diet?

What is endometriosis?

How long does weed stay in your urine?

Why am I always tired?

What does heartburn feel like?

What causes high blood pressure?

I’m pretty impressed! So here are some answers!

What is the keto diet?

Most people were googling about the low-carb, high-fat Keto diet that has lead to weight loss for hundreds, probably thousands of people. The keto diet triggers ketosis, a process in which the liver converts fat into ketones, which the body uses for energy instead of glucose. This not only allows your body to burn fat but can also help you lose water weight.

I personally do not recommend it. To stay in ketosis is hard and I dont think it is sustainable unless you are 100% organised, committed and hardcore! I also do not like the Keto cheat supplements, just my opinion.  I do like that it talks about increasing proteins and fat! YES!!!

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis, I hear every day in clinic. Lara Briden defines it as an inflammatory disease in which bits of tissue that is similar to uterine lining grows throughout the pelvis on structures such as ovaries. It causes pain (sometimes severe), scarring, and infertility. Endometriosis is not like other period problems. It’s not a hormonal condition like PMS and PCOS. It’s affected by hormones, yes, but fundamentally endometriosis is an inflammatory disease and possibly a microbial disease

Conventional treatment has not yet caught up with the new research into endometriosis and immune dysfunction. Hormonal suppression remains the primary treatment, which is unfortunate because it has many side effects and does not work all that well.

There is a better way. Read all about it here on Laras website.

How long does weed stay in your urine?

Next question, I don’t know how long weed stays in your urine.  I don’t really care! What I do care about is the colour, smell, composition and quantity of your urine.  Different to what most people believe, I want to see that you have colour, cloudy urine with particles floating in it. I want to know that your kidneys are working! Here is the weed answer anyway:

There are a number of ways weed affects the brain and body, and it can vary from person to person. As far as how long the drug remains in your system, Healthline reports that weed stays in your urine one to 30 days after use depending on how much and how often you smoke. For daily users, it can be detected up to three months after use.

Why am I always tired?

OK, the eternal question asked by adults all over the world, why am I always tired? Even if you feel like you get enough sleep, you may find yourself yawning in the middle of the day, craving a nap or not even wanting to get out of bed. Unfortunately, there isn’t just one answer to this question.

I recently went to my doctor to get some up to date blood work and she asked me why I was there. One of my reasons was that I am doing more than what I have ever done and I’m not tired… HER EYES LIT UP AND SHE HIGH FIVED ME LOL. I believe in being energetically connected. I believe I am on the right track and my life is entwined with my passions and my purpose.  This is the secret. Being in your flow and supported by spirit / universe unleashes energy and helps you drop the baggage of fear, helping you to FEEL ALIVE!

What does heartburn feel like?

Heartburn, I don’t think I have ever had it, luckily! Unfortunately for lots it is one of the most common conditions I see in my clinic. Not surprisingly, antacid preparations, both prescription and over the counter are one of the top sellers in the pharmaceutical industry. When antacid drugs are used, digestion is impaired, causing improper breakdown of food and therefore reduced absorption of nutrients. Stagnant food can create fullness, bloating, gas, cramps, constipation or diarrhea. I am very concerned about the effect on digestion that these drugs have and by the fact that they only address the symptoms, without addressing the cause.

For many of my patients, the identification and elimination of their individual food intolerances has provided long term relief from not only acid reflux but many other digestive disorders. Most never dreamed that there could be such a simple solution to their long-term pain and problem. Couple this with some education, diet and lifestyle changes and supporting nutrients and we see a lot less pain.

What causes high blood pressure?

The high blood pressure answer is similar to the tired one.  It is multi faceted. Stress on your body shuts down a lot of elimination pathways, putting pressure on every part of your body shown on a blood pressure reading.  The top number of your blood pressure shows us your adrenal health. The bottom number is related to your kidney health and acid retention (toxins). 120/60 is a textbook reading.

I believe high blood pressure can be easily addressed through diet by removing coffee, sugar and excess animal proteins and adding water. Lifestyle changes of course too like movement, love, lymphatic, sleep and meditation…  give it a go.
